Former India cricketer Yuvraj Singh on Tuesday appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with its investigation into the online betting platform 1xBet. Officials said the 43-year-old reached the ED office in central Delhi around noon, accompanied by his legal team. He was questioned by the investigating officer and his statement was recorded under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The case relates to alleged illegal betting operations and tax evasion by the app. The agency is examining how celebrities and sportspersons were approached for promotions, the mode of payment they received, and whether the money can be classified as “proceeds of crime.” Over the last few weeks, the ED has also questioned former cricketers Suresh Raina, Shikhar Dhawan and Robin Uthappa in the same matter. Actor Mimi Chakraborty, Bengali actor Ankush Hazra, and influencer Anveshi Jain have also been called in. Officials said Bollywood actor Sonu Sood has been asked to appear before the agency on Wednesday. More names from sports and the entertainment industry are expected to be summoned in the coming days. According to investigators, statements from celebrities are being taken to understand if they knew online betting is illegal in India and to collect details of their contracts with 1xBet. The agency has asked for copies of agreements, emails and other documents linked to promotional activities.

A chargesheet is expected to be filed later in court once the evidence is compiled. The probe is part of a larger crackdown on betting and gaming platforms in the country.
