A plea seeking the cancellation of the India-Pakistan fixture was filed, citing terrorism concerns and national security. The petitioners argued that playing cricket against Pakistan undermines the sacrifices of Indian soldiers, particularly in the wake of the Phalagam terror attack and Operation Sindoor.“Cricket between nations is meant to show harmony and friendship,” the plea stated. “But at a time when our soldiers have sacrificed their lives, engaging in sports with the country sheltering terrorists sends the wrong message.” The petition also highlighted potential damage to the morale of the armed forces and questioned whether national dignity should be compromised for entertainment. The court, however, denied an urgent hearing.Despite the external noise, the cricketing spectacle remains highly anticipated. Both India and Pakistan have made winning starts to their Asia Cup campaigns, with India beating UAE and Pakistan overcoming Oman.
