Lindsey Langston, ex-girlfriend of Republican congressman Cory Mills, testified against him in court on Friday, accusing the Florida lawmaker of threatening her safety and reputation by potentially releasing intimate videos of the two. Langston, who is Miss United States and a Republican state committeewoman, is seeking a restraining order. Langston broke down several times while testifying, telling the court she went to the police only after Mills ignored her repeated requests to leave her alone. “He’s powerful, connected and wealthy,” Langston told the court, adding that she only wanted to move on and live a normal life. She further claimed that Mills had threatened to harm anyone she dated.“I’m scared. I thought I could handle it by myself. Please help me,” she added.Langston first went to Florida authorities about the relationship in July. She testified on Friday that the February assault allegation involving another woman pushed her to end things with him. She also claimed Mills misled her about that woman and falsely told her he was divorced while still married.

Mills denied wrongdoing. He claimed his phone was damaged and said he no longer had any explicit content. He argued that his references to “videos” were about clips Langston had already shared online. “I’m finished with this relationship,” he added. Mills has suggested the allegations are politically motivated and linked to his former rival Anthony Sabatini, who admitted giving Langston legal advice but denied formally representing her.Circuit Judge Fred Koberlein did not issue a ruling because the hearing exceeded the scheduled 90 minutes. Another hearing will be set soon. The case comes as Mills faces wider scrutiny, including a House ethics probe over federal contracts and calls from Democrats for his censure, reported Politico. He was also accused earlier this year of assaulting another woman in Washington, though no charges were filed.
