NEW DELHI: At just 14, Vaibhav Suryavanshi is already creating waves in the cricketing world. With a baby face but fearless power-hitting, the youngster has stunned everyone with his maturity and skill. The 14-year-old truly announced his arrival on the big stage in the IPL 2025 season, where he smashed a blistering century. His sensational 101 off just 38 balls made him the youngest ever to score a century in the tournament’s history. What made the knock even more remarkable was the pace at which it was scored. That innings went down as the second-fastest century in IPL history, behind only Chris Gayle’s iconic 30-ball hundred.

For a teenager to etch his name alongside Gayle in the record books speaks volumes about the kind of prodigious talent Suryavanshi is. His fearless approach and ability to clear the boundary at will have made him an instant fan favourite, with many already touting him as the future of Indian cricket.Nitish Rana, who represents Rajasthan Royals in the IPL and has kept a close eye on Suryavanshi’s progress, couldn’t resist joking about the youngster’s age. “Is Suryavanshi really 14 years old?” he asked with a laugh, capturing the disbelief that many feel when watching the teenager bat. After leading West Delhi Lions, Nitish took part in a rapid-fire round where he was asked several questions, including one about Suryavanshi. Without hesitation, he laughed and said: “Wo 14 saal ka hi hai ki nahi?”When asked to share one thing the world doesn’t know about Sanju Samson, Nitish teased: “Next year wo kaha khelne waala hai?”He also opened up about his Rajasthan Royals teammate Riyan Parag. “Jaisa wo dikhta hai wo waise hai nahi. Real life mein wo bahot soft as in bahot achhey se baat karta hai. Uska attitude shayad TV pe galat tarike se dikhta hai. But wo waisa hai nahi,” he said. For Nitish, though, the game itself remains above everything else. “Cricket se bada kuch nahi hai. Game bahot bada hai kisi bhi match se, kisi bhi player se, kisi bhi cheez se. Cricket ko maine waha dekha hai jaha pe na maine apne aap ko dekha hai, na apne khaandaan ko and na kisi aur ko. Cricket mere liye top pe hai,” he said passionately.
