Janhvi Kapoor to lead ‘Chaalbaaz’ remake?

Bollywood sensation Janhvi Kapoor is making headlines for her stellar performance in “Param Sundari” with Sidharth Malhotra. The cinegoers are also excited for her upcoming film “Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsikumari” in which she stars with Varun Dhawan.

However, there is also another film that has the fans in a frenzy—remake of the cult comedy “Chaalbaaz”, starring Janhvi’s late mother Sridevi.

If sources are to be believed, Janhvi is all set to step into the shoes of her mother. According to reports, a leading film producer has offered Janhvi the lead role in the official remake of “Chaalbaaz”.

“For Janhvi, “Chaalbaaz” is a lot more than just a film. It’s an emotion. She has jumped onto the chance of playing the lead role in the film’s remake, but is treading with utmost caution,” a media outlet quoted an insider as saying.

The source also informed that Janhvi doesn’t want to just cash in on her mother’s legacy. “She is taking opinions from people around for the “Chaalbaaz” remake. She is excited, but is also wary of all the comparisons. She is expected to take a call on the “Chaalbaaz” remake by the end of September,” the insider added.

The other details of the film and its crew have been kept under wraps for now.

“Chaalbaaz”, starring the iconic actress Sridevi in a double role, was released in 1989. The film was well received by critics and audiences alike, and emerged as a commercial success, eventually becoming the fifth-highest-grossing film of 1989.
