Amazon has launched a surprise sale event, and it’s good news if you have an old Ring doorbell that needs an upgrade or are thinking of joining this security revolution. This new device, which only launched last year, gets a number of big upgrades, including an easier way to DIY install it – Amazon promises it can be fitted in around 5 minutes and doesn’t need an expert or engineer to visit.
Once screwed to your home, you’ll get full HD video recordings sent straight to your smartphone. It even shoots decent images when the sun goes down, thanks to Colour Night Vision.
There are head-to-toe recordings, which means you’ll see every ounce of the action when someone approaches the door. That should mean you’ll see any parcels dumped on the doorstep by delivery drivers.
Like most video doorbells, you can speak to the person on your driveway, and there are even instant Quick Replies, which let you choose from a selection of pre-recorded messages.

Package Alerts will also go off whenever a delivery is detected on your doorstep.
Another nice feature of Ring is being able to connect it to your Echo Show. This means you can see who is at the front door via the screen on these smart speakers.
