This redistricting dispute has prompted some Democratic-led states to threaten retaliation, with Governor Newsom suggesting the removal of five Republican-held seats in California.The redistricting conflict in Texas and possibly in other states carries national significance, as it could influence control of the US House of Representatives. On Monday, he sent a letter to Trump urging him to tell Texas Governor Greg Abbott and other Republican governors to stop trying to create new congressional maps.In Texas, Democrats have boycotted legislative sessions to block the GOP maps, preventing the state House from reaching a quorum. Texas House Speaker Dustin Burrows said the chamber will meet again Friday and warned that if there is still no quorum, Abbott will end the current session and immediately call a second special session.
