LUCKNOW: Premier India pacer Mohammed Siraj’s relentless spells and never-say-die attitude in England won him fans but former India medium pacer bowler RP Singh has sounded a word of caution.“Currently his body is fit and he is bowling well, but Siraj too needs to be cautious. Workload management issues will affect him too, sooner or later,” Singh told TOI. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW!“Jasprit Bumrah has suffered because of his unique bowling action. Both he and Siraj are our assets and their workload needs to be monitored. However, the workload management should be in domestic cricket, not international cricket,” Singh added.

Do you think workload management is crucial for fast bowlers like Mohammed Siraj?

Asked whether the Indian team management missed a trick by not playing left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh in England, the former India left-arm pacer said, “For sure, 100% Arshdeep has to be given a chance. He’s a great bowler. He can swing the ball both ways, and he has developed his pace as well. I’m sure at some point he’s going to be part of the XI. Right now, he’s not able to make it because senior players are also there. But because the pacers are so injury prone, sooner or later, Arshdeep will get his chance.”

RP Singh also backed Anshul Kamboj as a future option despite failing to impress in the only Test he played in England. “Kamboj will be a wonderful addition to the Indian bowling attack in future. I have personally watched him in the domestic circuit. He did not do well in his debut Test because he didn’t get any rest and had to play the match urgently, which affected his performance,” RP Singh said.Kamboj bagged a single wicket in the Manchester Test before being dropped from the remainder of the series.
