Watch: Teammates praise and tease Yashasvi Jaiswal for his stunning catch against England

NEW DELHI: Yashasvi Jaiswal‘s moment of brilliance in the field during his ODI debut for the Men in Blue against England in the series opener was praised by Axar Patel and India fielding coach T Dilip.
England was in a strong position at 75/1 towards the end of the powerplay, and Ben Duckkett was trying to open his arms in order to keep up a high run rate.
Harshit Rana got the breakthrough that India required. The ball continued to move quickly through the open area after he tricked Duckett into mistiming his shot.
Jaiswal ran toward the landing zone, his gaze focused on the ball. In his debut, he made a spectacular catch by diving and getting his hands beneath the ball. After Duckett was out of the game, Harshit took out Harry Brook for a three-ball duck in the same over, bringing England down from 75/1 to 77/3.
Standing in the ideal location to witness Jaiswal’s catch, Axar commended the young player for his incredible effort. Before giving Jaiswal a big hug, he even joked about how shy he was about the catch.
“I was in a position where I saw him sprinting from behind, and the way he stretched to take a catch, I saw the whole angle, it was a really good catch…sharma kyu raha hai yaar (Why are you feeling shy),” Axar said in a video posted by the BCCI.
Dilip, however, was certain that Jaiswal would make the catch. The ball was moving so fast that his only worry was whether he would make it in time.
“I was on that side, and I saw the ball kept going. I was like, just catch it. One thing is that his hands are good. So I was like, just reach there, you will take the catch,” he said.
