‘King Khan’ suffers injury while filming ‘The King’

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has reportedly met with an accident on the sets of upcoming film, ‘The King’, following which he was rushed to the US for treatment, a Mumbai-based web portal has said.

The injury, which has been said to be muscular, occurred when Khan was shooting an action sequence at the Golden Tobacco studio in Mumbai. He was advised “urgent” medical treatment by the doctors.

“While exact details of the injury have been kept under wraps, Shah Rukh, along with his team, has travelled to the US for urgent medical attention. It’s nothing serious, but more of a muscular injury, as Shah Rukh, over the years, has injured multiple muscles of his body while performing stunts,” quoted the web portal.

Sources familiar with the matter say the actor has been advised a month’s rest by his medical team in the US, and will therefore resume shooting for the film in September-October.

“The next schedule of King will now begin in September/October as SRK has been advised to take time off for recovery. On completely recovering from the injury, he will hit sets again with full force,” the source added.

The Siddharth Anand-directed film is scheduled for release in 2026, although no official release date has been announced yet. The ensemble cast includes Shah Rukh’s daughter, Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Anil Kapoor, Fahim Fazli, Abu Hamza, Jaideep Ahlawat, Raghav Juyal, Jackie Shroff, Saurabh Shukla, Arshad Warsi, and Abhay Verma among others.

IMDb describes the movie’s plot to be based on the mentor-disciple relationship, following their perilous journey that “pushes their survival skills to the limit against overwhelming odds and unforgiving environments”.

While the film will see father-daughter duo of Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan on the screen together for the first time, it will be interesting to watch ‘King Khan’ play a powerful don again (after Raees) and his daughter, Suhana, play his protégé.
