Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Wednesday took a jab against US and Israel, declaring that fighting the United States and its “dog on a leash” Israel is “praiseworthy.”Khamenei also accused Israel of waging war with the broader goal of “overthrowing the system” in Iran, suggesting that Israel’s attacks during last month’s 12-day war aimed to weaken the Islamic Republic’s system and incite unrest to topple it.“The calculation and plan of the aggressors was to weaken the system by targeting certain figures and sensitive centres in Iran,” Khamenei said in a statement published on his website. He added that the move was meant to stir “unrest and bring people into the streets to overthrow the system.”He further stated that the attackers “would have to adapt their stance before they are totally wiped out.”His remarks come amid heightened regional tensions and growing Iranian concerns over threats from US and Israel.
