Time to ditch your Galaxy phone? Samsung is releasing something better this week

There’s a massive week ahead for Samsung fans with the Korean technology giant holding a major Unpacked event in New York. The global showcase will kick off on Wednesday, July 9, with new phones and wearables expected to be top of the agenda. Samsung has already teased that the stars of the show will be upgraded foldables, and that means the current Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 are about to look very outdated.

“Thin, Light and Built to Last: The New Era of the Galaxy Z Series,” Samsung teased in a post on its website.

“Introduced in 2019, the first Galaxy Fold was a completely new form factor that combined the portability of a smartphone with the extensive productivity of a tablet — challenging conventional perceptions of what a smartphone could be.

“Samsung engineers and designers are refining each generation of the Galaxy Z series to be thinner, lighter and more durable than the last.”

Although we’ll have to wait for full details to be confirmed later this week, it seems that the next Z Fold and Flip could both get refreshed designs, more power under the hood and smart AI baked in. It also appears that at least one of these bendable call makers will get the Ultra branding, making sure customers know it’s the most powerful device Samsung creates.

Explaining more, Samsung said: “For years, Samsung has listened to users asking for bigger screens, better cameras and new ways to connect and create. The demand is clear — an Ultra-experience that goes beyond a simple list of upgraded features in a smaller and more portable form factor.

“That’s why Galaxy’s next chapter is to provide an experience that seamlessly blends artistry and engineering to elevate everyday interactions.”

As we mentioned earlier, Samsung could also refresh its Galaxy Watch wearables in New York with these popular devices due a reboot.

If Samsung follows its usual pattern, we can expect the new watches to get improved durability, more impressive performance and bonus health features.

There’s only a few days until all is revealed and Express.co.uk will bring you all the news live as it happens so watch this space.

One thing we definitely don’t recommend is buying any Galaxy devices until the announcement is made otherwise you could end up with something very outdated in your pocket.
