“The tour is part of the FTP, so cancellation is not an option,” Rahman asserted. “But it may be rescheduled to a mutually convenient time,” he added, without specifying new dates.
While the BCCI has not made any public comment, Indian media reports have confirmed that the tour awaits official clearance from the Indian government. The requirement comes amidst strained relations between the two countries following the mass uprising that led to the ousting of former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in August 2024.India last hosted Bangladesh in September–October 2024 for a red-ball and white-ball series that included two Tests and two T20Is.With just weeks to go before the scheduled start, both boards are now expected to hold discussions to identify alternate dates that suit both sides.
