New Delhi: The Mumbai Indians (MI) camp was buzzing with energy and emotion after their dominating nine-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings, but it was a special post-match huddle moment that stole the show on social media.
In a video shared by MI’s official handle, head coach Mahela Jayawardene addressed the team with heartfelt praise and honesty. Referring to Kieron Pollard‘s pre-match words, Mahela said:
“At the huddle, Polly asked for something special—and you guys delivered.”
But then, Mahela went deeper, drawing from his own journey as a player:
“I’ve been through that as well, like playing cricket… you go through a little trot and then you have to dig deep. Few demons in your head as well.”
He then turned to Rohit Sharma, who had just played a match-winning unbeaten 76, and added with admiration:
“But Ro… brilliant. Maverick. Well played.”
