Chennai Super Kings have brought in South African youngster Dewald Brevis as a replacement for the injured Gurjapneet Singh for the remainder of the IPL 2025 season.
Brevis, dubbed ‘Baby AB‘ for his resemblance to AB de Villiers, brings with him explosive batting prowess. The 21-year-old has featured in 81 T20 matches, amassing 1,787 runs with a highest score of 162. He made his T20I debut for South Africa in 2023 and has played two internationals so far.

He was the sixth-highest run-scorer with 291 at a strike rate of 184.17 in the 2025 SA20, helping MI Cape Town win their first title.
Brevis was earlier associated with Mumbai Indians, where he made 10 appearances. Chennai Super Kings have secured his services for Rs 2.2 crore.
