Yield Engineering Systems (YES), which provides materials and interface engineering equipment solutions, is shipping its first commercial ‘VeroTherm Formic Acid Reflow’ tool to a leading global semiconductor manufacturer from its manufacturing facility in Coimbatore.

A press release from the company said this represents the first equipment produced in India for advanced semiconductor applications like High Bandwidth Memory (HBM), which is critical for AI and High-Performance Computing (HPC) applications worldwide. T

According to Ankineedu Velaga, MD of YES India, the company commenced its India operations in Coimbatore three years ago and inaugurated its manufacturing plant here last September. It is looking at expanding its facility here and investing more than ₹500 crore in India in the next five years.

The new facility in Coimbatore is designed to meet the growing demand for YES’s solutions, including VertaCureTM, VerothermTM, and VeroFlexTM systems for advanced wafer and panel-level packaging applications.

The company will ship 15-20 similar tools in 2025 from Coimbatore for global clients, Mr. Velaga told The Hindu.

According to the statement, T.R.B. Rajaa, Minister for Industries, Tamil Nadu, said, “Despite global and national challenges, Tamil Nadu remains steadfast in its mission to be a global semiconductor hub, and that’s why in the TN Budget 2025 the State has announced semiconductor manufacturing parks in Sulur and Palladam under a new ₹500-crore Semiconductor Mission.”

“The commencement of shipments from the YES manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu marks a remarkable advancement for India’s semiconductor industry,” said S. Krishnan, Secretary MEITy, in the press release.
