Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi mocked Republican candidate Bo French following his defeat in the 2026 Texas Railroad Commissioner election, calling out French’s remarks about South Asian students.“Bye bye, Bo. Bigotry is a losing strategy,” Krishnamoorthi wrote on X after Democrat Jon Rosenthal defeated French in the November 3 election. The Illinois Democrat’s post referred to a controversy that brought national attention to the Texas race. French had faced criticism over social media posts targeting South Asian students at the University of Texas at Austin, including a photograph of a large gathering of students cheering at a football game.French had questioned the presence of the students, suggesting that their participation showed how Americans were being displaced by foreigners. In another post in September 2026, he shared an image of a predominantly South Asian crowd at a university event and wrote that the situation was “far worse than anyone imagined”.His remarks drew criticism from both Democrats and Republicans, turning a state regulatory election into a wider debate over immigration, race and diversity.Rosenthal, a Democratic state representative from the Houston area, defeated French to become the first Democrat elected to the Texas Railroad Commission in more than three decades.
