Mohanlal Reveals Making Drishyam 3 Is ‘Not That Easy,’ Says ‘We Don’t Want To Disappoint You’

Mohanlal is gearing up for the release of his upcoming action thriller L2: Empuraan, co-starring Prithviraj Sukumaran. As the stalwart was busy promoting his movie, during one such event, he was asked about his next project, Drishyam 3. Post the release, the actor will start with the shooting of Drishyam 3, which became a hit franchise, inspiring remakes in other regional languages, including a Hindi version starring Ajay Devgn.

During the promotions in Delhi, Mohanlal opened up about Drishyam 3 and revealed that it is one of the challenging sequels, as the makers have to live up to the expectations of the audience. The actor said the plot is the “most secret thing,” and he cannot reveal much. However, he shared, “It’s in the pipeline. We are preparing. It is not that easy. Drishyam 2 happened, and now it’s a big challenge to make Drishyam 3. We are in the process of that…We don’t want to disappoint you, so we should be very careful. I cannot make any comments on that because it’s in the pipeline.”

It is one of the hit franchises in Indian cinema. The Malayalam version chronicles the struggles of Mohanlal’s character, Georgekutty and his family, who come under suspicion when the son of a police officer goes missing. Later, it was revealed he was killed by Georgekutty in self-defense. The success of the first part of Malayalam-language Drishyam led to its remake in Bollywood, Tollywood and Kollywood. The third installment will be helmed by Jeethu Joseph and might hit the theatres next year.

Coming back to L2: Empuraan, the movie is helmed by Prithviraj and is the second installment of the hit Malayalam movie Lucifer. Empuraan will hit the theatres on March 27.
