David Warner ‘Insulted’ At Robinhood Event For Pushpa ‘Obsession’, Why Rajendra Prasad Apologised To Australian Cricketer

Actor Rajendra Prasad has been criticised for ‘insulting’ David Warner at the pre-release event of the upcoming movie Robinhood, which will mark the Australian cricketer’s big screen debut. Prasad took a jibe at Warner, laughing about his obsession with Pushpa. He made these comments while imitating Pushpa dance steps, as Warner often does in his funny Instagram videos.

Prasad also questioned how Warner managed to do that instead of playing cricket. He also colloquially called him ‘donga m***a koduku’ (loosely translates to son of a gun). Warner, who was seated with the crowd, kept smiling as Prasad was speaking in Telugu. Many on social media objected to not just the insults hurled at Warner but over how Prasad was using his native language to target the popular cricket star when he could not even understand what he was saying.

Amid backlash, Prasad issued an apology to Warner and his fans. He clarified that he had no intention to offend anyone. He released a video, saying, “Even before attending the pre-release event, all of us had a meeting separately where we had great fun. I playfully teased Nithin and Warner. I even asked Warner to prove himself as an actor, in a playful manner. He responded to me, saying that I should prove myself as a cricketer.”

“If what I did has hurt anyone, I feel very sorry and apologise. I will ensure it never happens again,” he added.

At the Robinhood pre-release event, Warner amused his fans by recreating the popular Pushpa hookstep. Surrounded by the media and the paparazzi, he did the popular Srivalli hook step.

The videos from the event quickly went viral. On stage, he also grooved with Sreeleela and Nithiin. Meanwhile, Robinhood will release on March 28.
