Noida-Jewar airport to be named Narendra Modi International Airport, announces CM Yogi

The Noida International Airport in Jewar will be named Narendra Modi International Airport, following approval by the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced.

The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has approved a proposal to name the upcoming Jewar airport after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with the facility to be called Narendra Modi International Airport, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced.

The announcement comes as the airport, located in Jewar in Gautam Buddh Nagar district, is expected to strengthen air connectivity across the National Capital Region (NCR) and western Uttar Pradesh.

The airport is a key infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity for Noida, Greater Noida and surrounding areas, while helping ease passenger traffic at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.

The project is also expected to support regional economic activity by improving access for businesses, investors and travellers.

The airport was developed under a public-private partnership between Yamuna International Airport Private Limited, a subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG, and the Uttar Pradesh government. The facility combines Swiss engineering and operational expertise with Indian architectural elements. Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in March, the airport is the second international airport in the National Capital Region (NCR).

The passenger terminal is designed to handle up to 12 million passengers annually. With further expansion and multiple runways planned, the airport is projected to handle up to 70 million passengers a year by 2050.
