Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will not be seen in action for India till the next month, after both played all three matches of the three-game ODI series against the West Indies, which ended on Saturday (October 3) with India’s defeat in New Chandigarh. Shai Hope anchored the chase with an unbeaten 162 off 143 balls as West Indies prevented India from completing a series sweep with a five-wicket victory.Rohit scored 32, 101 and 92 in the three matches, while Kohli made 139*, 29 and a golden duck. The two former India captains had a good run with the bat in the series in front of the home fans.With no ODIs scheduled for India in the next 30 days, Rohit and Kohli will next get an opportunity to play in the 50-over format during India’s tour of New Zealand.India will travel to New Zealand later this month for five T20Is, five ODIs and two Tests. The tour will begin with a five-match T20I series in Christchurch from October 22, followed by the five-match ODI series.The first ODI is scheduled to be played at Eden Park in Auckland on November 4.The BCCI’s senior men’s selection committee has not announced India’s squad for the New Zealand tour yet. However, the duo is certain to be picked for the ODIs after their recent performances for the world’s No. 1 ODI team.Rohit, who is fourth in the ICC ODI batting rankings, has played 14 ODIs in New Zealand and scored 437 runs in 13 innings. He is yet to score an ODI century in the country but has four fifties.Kohli, meanwhile, has scored 596 runs in 13 ODIs in New Zealand. He has one century and four fifties to his name.Their form will be important for India in the away series next month, with most of the other Indian players having very little experience of playing matches in New Zealand.
