South African police have launched a manhunt on Sunday after 17 people were killed and 15 wounded in a shooting at a tavern in Wedela township, southwest of Johannesburg.The shooting took place around 9.30pm on Saturday in Gauteng province, police said. Emergency medical services declared all 17 victims dead at the scene. The victims included 13 men and four women.Police said eight unidentified suspects arrived at the tavern and opened fire on patrons drinking outside before entering the establishment and continuing to shoot at people inside.The suspects were reportedly armed with AK-47 rifles and pistols, according to the South African Police Service.Fifteen people who suffered gunshot wounds were taken to medical facilities for treatment.No arrests had been made as of Sunday, police said. The motive for the shooting was not immediately known.Police have appealed for information as the search for the suspects continues.This is a developing story.
