American psychological show Severance is all set to return back with third season. The Emmy nominated show will be directed by Ben Stiller (Night at the Museum fame). Know all about its plot, cast and on which OTT platform will it be available to watch.
Streaming giant Apple TV+ has officially renewed its acclaimed thriller for the third time. Apple CEO Tim Cook personally revealed the renewal in a social media exchange with Ben Stiller, writing, “Season 3 of Severance available on request.” As soon as the news was dropped, fans couldn’t flooded the comment section and one user wrote, “Pfft. This was guaranteed from day 1. Just don’t make us wait 3 years again please and thanks!”. Another user wrote, “And it’s ready to watch now right? Right?”. “Please release this ASAP”, wrote the third user.
Severance was renewed for a third season on March 21. However, the makers have not announced the release date yet. The show is described as “a workplace thriller that introduces Lumen Industries, a company that’s looking to take work-life balance to a new level.” In the first two seasons, Adam Scott played the lead role of Mark, an employee with a dark past trying to put himself back together. Apart from Adam Scott, the series features Zach Cheryy, Britt Lower, Trammel Tillman, Jen Tullock, Dichen Lachman and John Turturro among others.
According to a report, Adam Scott said in an interview despite facing pressure and uncertainty surrounding the future of the series, Ben Stiller successfully edited various episodes during the downtime provided by the strikes and also stuck to show’s essence.
Severance has received acclaim for its cinematography, direction, production design, musical score, story, and performances.
It has received 14 nominations at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards and Creative Arts Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Drama Series and acting nominations. The show premiered on February 18, 2022 and second season on January 17, 2025.
