IndiGo website goes down again, passengers unable to book flights

IndiGo’s website faced another disruption on Friday, with passengers reporting failed bookings, check-ins and payment issues

IndiGo’s website faced another disruption on Friday, with passengers unable to book flights and some users reporting problems logging into the airline’s app. This was the second such disruption to hit India’s largest airline in the same week.

The airline’s website displayed a “no data available” message when users tried to access flight booking services. Reuters journalists in at least three Indian cities were unable to book tickets through the website, while some also faced difficulties logging into the mobile app.

The cause of Friday’s disruption was not immediately clear.

IndiGo booking, check-in services hit

The latest disruption came just two days after IndiGo acknowledged problems with its core reservation platform.

On Wednesday, the airline said on X that it was experiencing “intermittent issues” with its reservation system. It said the problems could make it difficult for some customers to access its online services.

IndiGo also said it was working with its technology partner to resolve the issue, but did not provide further details about the cause of the disruption.

On Friday, multiple users again reported problems through IndiGo’s X account, including failed flight bookings, web check-ins and payment confirmations.

IndiGo is India’s biggest airline by domestic market share. It accounted for around 67 per cent of India’s domestic aviation market in July.

The airline’s extensive network means disruptions to its digital systems can affect a large number of passengers trying to book tickets, check in or manage existing reservations.

The latest incident also comes at a time for the airline, which has faced scrutiny over operational disruptions in the past.

IndiGo faced major disruption in December

IndiGo came under intense scrutiny in December after problems with pilot roster planning contributed to widespread flight cancellations.

The airline cancelled around 4,500 flights during the disruption, leaving tens of thousands of passengers stranded and causing significant disruption to air travel across India.

The incident prompted regulatory scrutiny, with authorities taking action against the airline over the cancellations.

Friday’s website disruption is not directly linked to the December operational crisis. However, the latest incident puts the reliability of IndiGo’s technology and reservation systems under renewed focus as the airline continues to handle a large share of India’s domestic air traffic.

For now, it remains unclear how long Friday’s disruption will last or what caused the latest failure.
