It’s A Flop Film: When Jaya Bachchan Mocked Akshay Kumar’s Toilet Ek Prem Katha, Said, ‘I’d Never Go To Watch A Film…’

Akshay Kumar was one of the guests at the Republic Plenary Summit recently. He said that some of his patriotic movies may not have done well at the box office, but he is determined to make more. An old video of Jaya Bachchan has been going viral on social media in which she criticised Akshay’s Toliet: Ek Prem Katha and questioned the makers over its bizarre title.

The veteran actress said, “Just look at the title of the film; I would never go to watch a film with such a name. Yeh koi naam hai? Is that really a name?” She then asked if the audience would be okay to watching a film with such a name. “Among so many people, hardly four people want to watch the film; it’s very sad. Yeh toh flop hai (It is a flop).”

On the Republic Plenary Summit, Akshay shared that his wife questions him for making patriotic movies. The actor, last seen in Sky Force, said that he bankrolled most of his movies and started his production house to make movies that are about India. He also shared that while some of his patriotic movies may not have worked at the box office, he is determined to make more of them.

“I made Airlift based on a true story. I found the story about India’s space achievements and how in limited money we achieved a limitless thing. The movie I made was called Mission Mangal. We made Sky Force also. I know the business of films is not that big because people like entertainment. I will keep on making films about my country. After the film releases, they work on OTT. A lot of officers in the Army and Air Force and cops tell me that they show such movies to their kids. That is what I will earn,” Akshay shared.
