Commonwealth Games 2026 Day 7 Live Updates: India’s Sanjana in action in women’s 77kg weightlifting final

Commonwealth Games 2026 Day 7 Live Updates: India’s campaign at the Commonwealth Games 2026 gathered further momentum on Day 6 as Gulveer Singh made history, Harjinder Kaur added another silver in weightlifting and the country’s boxers guaranteed at least three more medals with dominant performances in Glasgow.

The biggest talking point of the day was Gulveer Singh, who became the first Indian to win a Commonwealth Games medal in the men’s 10,000m after producing a brilliant silver-medal performance. Harjinder Kaur also continued India’s weightlifting success by finishing second in the women’s 69kg category, improving on the bronze medal she won at the Birmingham Games four years ago.

India’s boxing team kept its excellent run going, with Jadumani Singh, Preeti Pawar and Priya Ghanghas all reaching the semifinals to assure the nation of at least bronze medals. While a few athletes bowed out in boxing, swimming and athletics, there were encouraging performances in para swimming and lawn bowls as India’s medal hunt continued across multiple disciplines.

At the end of Day 6, India occupied ninth place in the medal standings with 12 medals, two gold, seven silver and three bronze—and will now turn its attention to another action-packed schedule on Day 7.

Several Indian athletes will be in medal contention on Wednesday, including Sanjana in the women’s 77kg weightlifting final, long jumpers Sreeshankar Murali and Lokesh Satyanathan, shot putter Manpreet Kaur and steeplechase runner Parul Choudhary. The boxing ring will once again be busy with six Indians, including Sachin Siwach, Sakshi Choudhary, Ankush Yadav and Jaismine Lamboria, aiming to secure semifinal places. India will also have representation in swimming, para athletics, para swimming and lawn bowls, making Day 7 another crucial opportunity to climb the Commonwealth Games medal table.
