JPMorgan Chase is set to hire around 1,000 technology professionals across its India Global Capability Centres (GCCs), reinforcing the country’s growing role as a strategic technology and innovation hub for global financial institutions. The hiring drive comes even as the Wall Street lender has said that artificial intelligence has reduced staffing requirements by 30-40 per cent in certain business functions.
According to a Moneycontrol report, the recruitment will primarily focus on specialists in cloud architecture, cybersecurity and AI data pipelines. Candidates will be assessed through HackerRank-based tests covering coding, data structures, algorithms, and system architecture before being considered for roles.
JPMorgan currently employs around 55,000 people across five Indian cities, with major technology and operations hubs in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Mumbai. The latest hiring initiative is aimed at supporting the bank’s global technology, digital transformation, and AI ambitions through its India-GCC network.
The expansion also aligns with the bank’s long-term investment plans in India, including its proposed 2-million-square-foot GCC campus in Mumbai, expected to become Asia’s largest and accommodate up to 30,000 technology and operations professionals by 2029.
The hiring announcement comes shortly after JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon said AI has reduced staffing needs by 30-40 in some parts of the bank. However, he emphasised that AI-driven productivity gains will reshape workforce requirements rather than eliminate the need for highly skilled engineering talent.
