97th Academy Awards: Harrison Ford Forced To Step Down As Oscars Presenter Due To Shingles Diagnosis | Report



Harrison Ford, one of the legendary actors of Hollywood, will no longer be presenting the upcoming Academy Awards 2025. The Star Wars actor was forced to take this decision after being diagnosed with shingles, as reported by Entertainment Weekly. However, he is yet to officially announce the same. The 82-year-old Hollywood icon recently fell ill, but is now “doing okay”.

Lately, Ford attended the 2025 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, where he participated in a skit alongside Jessica Williams. The veteran actor received his shingles diagnosis on Friday, per Variety.

The Mayo Clinic explains that shingles is caused by the varicella-zoster virus, the same virus which also causes chickenpox. After suffering from chickenpox, the virus remains in our body and years later it might reactivate as shingles. It is non-life threatening but “very painful” which looks like “a single stripe of blisters that wraps around the left side or the right side of your torso.” It can also cause nerve pain lasting for weeks or months.

Cillian Murphy, Halle Berry, Penélope Cruz, Robert Downey Jr., Andrew Garfield, Elle Fanning, Whoopi Goldberg, Scarlett Johansson, Gal Gadot, John Lithgow, Miley Cyrus, Amy Poehler, June Squibb, Bowen Yang, Emma Stone, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Samuel L. Jackson, Margaret Qualley, Rachel Zegler, Alba Rohrwacher, Zoe Saldaña and, Miles Teller and Dave Bautista will be walking on the stage as presenters. Canan O’Brien will serve as the host of the 97th Academy Awards.

The award ceremony will be held on March 4 at 4 PM PT and 7 PM. ET. Whereas in India, viewers can watch early morning (5:30 AM) on Monday, March 3. The ceremony will go live on ABC or stream it on Hulu.
